Our client is a successful insurance business, looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their busy finance team. This is a full time office based
role, however our client do allow for some home working as part of their flexible working agreement. Salary is competitive depending on experience,
and our client offers a great benefits package. Under the supervision of the Finance Manager, In conjunction with the Financial Controller, to assist
with the management of the Company’s financial requirements operating strictly within the FCA’s Regulatory framework.
to provide a Financial Accounting and Accounts Assistance ensuring that the most effective systems and processes are followed at all times.
Overview of Responsibilities
Responsible for month end revenue recognition and cost of sales for Affinity Schemes and Claims Handling.
To ensure prompt and accurate collection of monthly direct debits from Affinity customers.
Monthly production of the Affinity insurer bordereaux together with supporting documentation.
Preparation of monthly management accounts for several group companies, including expense variance analysis and reporting.
Monthly analysis in preparation for the annual audit and tax computations, including key cost analysis, interest summaries, etc.
Production of weekly of Escrow deposits returns to customers, ensure the escrow repayment process is operated accurately and recorded on the system
and workings for reconciliation purposes.
Preparation of the monthly broker payment process, ensuring payments are made accurately and on a timely basis, in order to ensure external relationships
are maintained with key broker business partners.
Responsible for several monthly bank reconciliations as requested by the Finance Manager.
Monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including analysis of Intercompany balances, Debtors and Creditors reconciliations.
Weekly review of aged policies by investigating outstanding balances and migrated balances, resolving through discussion with IT department, completing
write offs (in line with the agreed policy) and returning funds to customers or The Crown.
To support the Finance Manager in the further development of accounting procedures and controls in relation to trade creditors/purchases, trade debtors/sales
transaction cycles and other accounting areas. This will include conducting internal auditing across key risk areas in the department.
Working with the Business Intelligence team to develop the core system, including testing for any core system improvements or bug fixes.
To liaise with external parties (including insurers, surveyors and brokers) ensuring that the business needs of the company are met. Carrying out any
external reporting as required, including monthly and annual ONS surveys.
Undertake any other duties as reasonably required to assist the Finance Manager and Finance Team.
Experience / Skills
Part Qualified ACA/ACCA/ACA Accountant.
Experience of working in a similar role within Finance.
Experience of working in an FCA regulated industry (desirable).
Understanding of UK accounting principles, including FRS 102.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel.
Experience of Microsoft Navision reporting system (desirable).
Ability to understand and navigate bespoke systems that are tailored to needs of company in order to carry out requirements of role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Accurate and attentive to detail, with good time management and organisation skills.
Flexible, pro-active and a problem solver, who can use own initiative when carrying out tasks and improving processes.
Ability to challenge and improve current procedures.
